Frequently Asked Questions
Not sure if you are a good candidate for laser hair removal? Nervous about side effects of injectable treatments?
Check out our FAQ’s to see if we have already answered your question.
Is laser hair removal safe?
There are no risks or side effects from laser hair removal. Since becoming commercially available in the late 1990’s laser technology has been refined and improved to the extent that it is now widely available on almost every high street. Having a laser specialist who is well trained and experienced is essential to ensuring each treatment is performed safely and effectively.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is approved by the FDA as a permanent hair reduction method. The majority of our clients report a complete or significant reduction in hair growth after their treatments. In specific cases, fluctuating hormones can stimulate regrowth, in this case, we recommend coming in for a touch-up.
What machine does Laser Therapy use?
Cynosure Elite+ technology Laser machine is the gold standard in laser hair removal technology. This special device is a class 4 medical grade laser, approved by the FDA and used worldwide to remove unwanted hair growth. We offer laser treatments that deliver outstanding results and are safe for all skin types to use.
Does laser hair removal work on any skin type?
At Laser Therapy, we use both Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser hair removal technologies, this allows us to effectively treat customers regardless of their skin tone.
Do I need a consultation before booking my first laser hair removal?
It all begins with a consultation, during which we ask questions and listen carefully to your answers. We also take the time to fully explain your options and, outline the procedure. Our goal is to give you all the information you need to feel comfortable, confident, and excited about what’s to come.
How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
Results are unique to each individual. A majority of our clients achieve the results they want within 6 to 10 laser treatments, but it may take more or less time.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal hurts less than most other forms of hair removal, especially waxing. Our clients are often surprised to discover the treatment is much more painless than they expected. Our machine is equipped with a high quality cooling system which provides cooling protection throughout the entire treatment.
How often should I have laser hair removal sessions?
For best results, make sure to come in every 4 to 6 weeks. As the hair on the face tends to grow more quickly than the hair on the body, laser hair removal appointments for the face usually start out spaced every 4 weeks and treatments for the body start out spaced every 6 weeks.
Can I shave between laser hair removal treatments?
Yes! In fact, we ask you to shave your treatment area 24-48 hours before your appointment. After your treatment, allow your skin a few days to calm down before shaving again. Aside from shaving, avoid all other hair removal methods. This includes waxing, bleaching, tweezing, threading, or epilating.
Can I go in the sun during laser hair removal?
Any skin darkening habits, from casual sun exposure to fake tanning, can compromise the effectiveness of the laser treatment. Try to make sure that your skin is at its natural colour, and avoid unprotected sun exposure, tanning lotions, tanning beds, tanning sprays, and tanning solutions for at least 2 to 4 weeks before and after your treatment.
Can I get laser hair removal while pregnant or breastfeeding?
It is strongly recommended that you do not undergo laser hair removal while pregnant. Despite laser hair removal being considered a safe procedure, pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid the procedure. The reason for this is that not enough research has been done to prove it is safe for mothers and babies. Until further research is available, we tend to be cautious.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling triggers the skin’s natural renewal and healing response in the deeper layers. During treatment, hundreds to thousands of tiny micro-punctures are created in the skin each second. These controlled micro-injuries stimulate collagen and elastin production — two essential proteins that help revitalise and strengthen the skin.
Is microneedling suitable for everyone?
SkinPen is suitable for most skin types and tones. Before treatment, your therapist will complete a medical questionnaire to ensure it is safe for you. Some contraindications apply, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, among others.
For best results and safety:
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications for 3 days prior (unless prescribed)
- Drink plenty of water before your appointment
What does SkinPen microneedling do to my skin?
SkinPen works by activating your skin’s natural healing process. It remodels the skin without the use of chemicals, heat, or injections. Over time, this leads to smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. Results come from your body’s own ability to repair and renew, providing natural and longer-lasting improvements compared to many other treatments.
Is SkinPen microneedling painful, and what is the recovery like?
Microneedling is designed to be as comfortable as possible. A numbing cream is applied before treatment to reduce discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as light pressure or a mild buzzing feeling.
After treatment, you may experience redness and sensitivity similar to a mild sunburn. This usually settles within 1–2 days. Most clients return to normal activities within 24 hours.
How soon will I notice results from microneedling?
Some clients notice early improvements, but the best results are usually seen after a course of treatments. The number of sessions needed depends on your skin concerns and how your skin responds to treatment.
How often should I have SkinPen microneedling?
For best results, a series of treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is typically recommended. After your initial course, maintenance sessions can help preserve and enhance your results.
Why choose SkinPen for microneedling?
SkinPen was the first microneedling device to receive FDA clearance and meets high safety and regulatory standards. It is supported by over 90 clinical studies.
Features include:
- Sterile, single-use cartridges to prevent cross-contamination
- Advanced technology to reduce dragging or scratching
- Adjustable needle depths for customised treatment
- Proven long-term skin remodelling benefits
SkinPen is a trusted choice for safe, consistent, and effective results.
What does it mean that SkinPen is a “natural” treatment?
SkinPen is described as a natural treatment because it stimulates your body’s own healing response. It does not rely on chemicals, lasers, or injections. Instead, it creates tiny micro-channels in the skin that trigger natural repair processes, leading to smoother and firmer skin without introducing foreign substances.
What is the Instant Radiance Laser Facial?
The Instant Radiance Laser Facial is a non-invasive laser treatment designed to instantly refresh and revitalise the skin. Using advanced laser technology, it stimulates natural collagen production while refining pores, smoothing texture, and enhancing overall skin tone—leaving your skin visibly brighter and healthier.

Treatment settings are customised to:
- Stimulate natural collagen production
- Refine pores and smooth skin texture
- Brighten and even overall skin tone
- Improve clarity and radiance
The goal is to enhance your skin’s natural glow—not alter facial features—resulting in fresh, luminous skin with a healthy finish.
What happens during a treatment session?
Your session begins with a personalised skin assessment to ensure optimal settings for your skin type and goals. Eye protection is applied, and the laser is delivered in controlled pulses across the treatment area.
The treatment is quick and comfortable. Most clients describe a gentle warmth or light snapping sensation. Advanced cooling technology helps keep the skin comfortable throughout the session.

- Want minimal to no downtime
- Need a quick “event-ready” or maintenance facial
- Want a treatment suitable for most skin types
A consultation is always carried out to ensure suitability and tailor the treatment to your skin.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice an instant improvement after just one session. For optimal skin health and longer-lasting results, we recommend:
- Single session – for an instant glow and skin refresh
- Course of 3–6 sessions – for improved texture, tone, and collagen stimulation
Treatments are typically spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Maintenance sessions can be added as needed.
Is there any downtime after treatment?
Downtime is minimal to none. You may experience slight redness or warmth immediately after treatment, which usually settles within a few hours. Most clients return to normal activities the same day.
When will I see results?
Results are both immediate and progressive:
- Skin often looks brighter and more radiant right after treatment
- Texture and pore refinement improve over the following weeks
- Collagen stimulation continues with each session
This treatment delivers instant glow with ongoing skin benefits.
What results can I expect?
With the Instant Radiance Laser Facial, clients typically experience:
- An immediate, healthy glow
- Brighter and more even skin tone
- Refined pores and smoother texture
- Improved clarity
- Healthier-looking skin overall
Results improve gradually as collagen production and skin renewal continue.
What are anti-wrinkle injections and how do they work?
Anti-wrinkle injections are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to soften the appearance of fine lines and expression wrinkles. They work by temporarily relaxing specific facial muscles that cause movement-related lines — often called dynamic wrinkles.
Dynamic wrinkles develop from repeated facial expressions such as frowning, smiling, or squinting. Over time, these lines can become more noticeable and may remain visible even when your face is at rest. By reducing muscle activity in targeted areas, anti-wrinkle injections help smooth the skin and prevent lines from deepening.
Treatment is quick, minimally invasive, and requires little to no downtime, making it a popular option for both wrinkle reduction and early prevention.
How are anti-wrinkle injections different from other wrinkle treatments?
Unlike topical products or facials that work on the surface of the skin, anti-wrinkle injections target the underlying muscle activity that causes expression lines. By relaxing these muscles, the treatment helps smooth dynamic wrinkles and can provide longer-lasting, more noticeable results.
What should I do before my anti-wrinkle treatment?
To help ensure the best results and minimise the risk of side effects, please follow these pre-treatment guidelines:
- Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 7 days prior (such as ibuprofen, fish oil, garlic, ginkgo biloba, St John’s Wort, and vitamins A–E), unless medically necessary and approved by your GP.
- Attend your appointment with a clean face and no makeup.
- Please reschedule if you are feeling unwell, have an active infection, or have a cold sore outbreak near the treatment area.
- Inform your practitioner about all medications, supplements, and recent treatments.
- Anti-wrinkle injections are not recommended if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
- Avoid booking treatment immediately before an important event, as mild redness or bruising can occasionally occur.
Your aesthetic practitioner will review your medical history and answer any questions before treatment to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you.
What should I do after my anti-wrinkle treatment?
Following these aftercare instructions will help maximise your results and reduce the chance of side effects:
- Remain upright for at least 4 hours after treatment.
- Avoid touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the treated areas for 8 hours.
- Do not apply makeup to the treated area for 24 hours.
- Avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers for 24-48 hours.
- Mild redness, swelling, or small bumps at the injection sites can occur and usually settles within couple of hours.
- Bruising is possible and may take up to 7–10 days to resolve. Arnica gel or cream may help reduce bruising.
- Results typically begin to develop within 3–5 days, become more noticeable by day 10, and reach full effect at around 14 days.
How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
Results typically last between 2–4 months, depending on factors such as your metabolism, muscle strength, treatment area, and lifestyle. Muscle movement gradually returns over time, often starting around 6 weeks. Full movement usually resumes by months 2–4, when repeat treatment may be recommended to maintain results.
Are anti-wrinkle injections painful?
Most clients report only minimal discomfort. The sensation is commonly described as a quick pinprick. Treatments are performed using very fine needles, and each injection takes only a few seconds, making the procedure fast and well tolerated.
When will I see results from my treatment?
Initial improvements are usually noticeable within 7–10 days, with full results visible at around 2 weeks after treatment. We recommend a 2-week review appointment to assess your outcome.
What areas can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used to treat expression lines in the upper face, including:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines (the “11” lines between the brows)
- Crow’s feet (lines around the eyes)
- Bunny lines (fine lines on the nose)
Advanced treatments may also be used in selected cases to address:
- Subtle brow lift
- Lip flip
- Chin dimpling
- Jawline slimming (teeth grinding/clenching)
- Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
What are the possible side effects?
The most common side effects are mild and temporary, and may include:
- Redness or swelling at the injection site
- Minor bruising
- Tenderness or slight discomfort
- Mild headache or a feeling of heaviness in the treated area during the first few days
Serious complications are rare when treatment is performed by a qualified and experienced aesthetic practitioner. You will be provided with full aftercare advice and safety information before treatment.
Can I have anti-wrinkle injections if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Anti-wrinkle injections are not recommended if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
What Is Profhilo Treatment?
Profhilo is an advanced injectable skin treatment made from highly purified hyaluronic acid. Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo does not add volume or alter facial contours. Instead, it spreads smoothly beneath the skin to deeply hydrate and improve overall skin quality.
Profhilo works by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, helping the skin become firmer, smoother, and more elastic. The result is a natural-looking rejuvenation and a healthy, radiant glow.
It is ideal for clients who want visible skin improvement without changing their facial shape.
What Does Profhilo Treatment Involve?
Profhilo is delivered through a series of small injections placed just under the skin using a specialised technique.
- Only 10 carefully selected injection points are needed to treat the full face
- Treatment is completed over two sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart
- The product naturally disperses within the skin — no massage is required
- The procedure is quick and minimally invasive
Most clients notice improved hydration, smoother texture, and increased radiance within a few weeks. To maintain results, follow-up treatments are typically recommended every 6 months.
Pre-Treatment Advice for Profhilo
To minimise side effects and support the best outcome, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, and blood-thinning supplements for 7 days where possible (such as fish oils, garlic, ginkgo biloba, St John’s Wort, and high-dose vitamins A–E), as these can increase bruising
- Do not attend if you feel unwell or have an active infection
- Inform your aesthetic practitioner about all medications and supplements you are taking
- Attend your appointment without makeup on the treatment area
- Treatment cannot be performed if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an active cold sore
- Plan around important events, as temporary swelling, redness, or bruising can occur
Your aesthetic practitioner will complete a full consultation to confirm suitability before treatment.
Profhilo Aftercare Advice
Following your treatment, proper aftercare helps reduce side effects and supports optimal results:
- Avoid touching or pressing on the treated areas for 8 hours
- Do not apply makeup to the treated area for 24 hours
- Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas, steam rooms, and extreme temperatures for 24 hours
- Mild swelling or small bumps at injection points can occur and usually settle quickly
- If bruising develops, it may take 7–10 days to fade — arnica cream may help
- Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medication (such as ibuprofen) for 24–48 hours after treatment where possible
When Will I See Results from Profhilo?
Profhilo works by stimulating collagen and elastin production, so results develop gradually rather than instantly.
Most clients notice visible improvements in skin texture, hydration, and firmness around 2 weeks after the second session of the initial treatment course. Skin typically appears smoother, more radiant, and better hydrated as the regenerative effects continue.
Is the Treatment Painful?
Most clients describe the treatment as very tolerable. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to maximise comfort, and very fine needles are used. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or small injection marks immediately after treatment, but these effects usually settle quickly.
How Long Do Profhilo Results Last?
After the initial course of two treatments spaced 4 weeks apart, results typically last around 6 months. Maintenance sessions twice per year are recommended to keep the skin hydrated, firm, and refreshed over time.
Can Profhilo Be Used to Target Forehead Lines or Eye Wrinkles?
Profhilo is designed to improve overall skin quality, hydration, and firmness, rather than treat specific expression lines. For targeted treatment of forehead lines or wrinkles around the eyes, anti-wrinkle injections are usually more suitable. During your consultation, your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate option based on your concerns and desired results.
Can I Have Profhilo While Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
No. Profhilo and all other injectable treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. For your safety and your baby’s wellbeing, treatment should be postponed until after pregnancy and breastfeeding have finished.
What Are Skin Boosters?
Skin boosters are minimally invasive injectable treatments that improve skin hydration, texture, and radiance. They use substances such as hyaluronic acid to refresh and rejuvenate the skin without adding volume.
How Do Skin Boosters Work?
They deliver hydrating and revitalising ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin, boosting moisture, improving elasticity, and supporting collagen production for smoother, healthier-looking skin.
What Are the Benefits of Skin Boosters?
Skin booster treatments offer a range of skin-quality benefits, including:
- Deep hydration for dry or dull skin
- Improved texture and smoothness
- Softening of fine lines
- Support for collagen production
- Reduction in the appearance of acne scarring
- Natural-looking results without a heavy or overfilled look
- Minimal downtime, with most clients returning to normal activities quickly
They are suitable for many skin types and age groups.
Are Skin Boosters Safe?
Yes, when performed by a qualified aesthetic practitioner. Mild temporary effects such as redness, swelling, or bruising can occur and usually settle within a few days
How Long Do Skin Booster Results Last?
Results typically last several months to up to a year, depending on the product used and your skin. Maintenance treatments are recommended to keep results consistent.
What are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are highly purified, biocompatible DNA fragments used in aesthetic treatments to support skin repair and regeneration. They are well tolerated by the body and are designed to work at a cellular level to improve overall skin health.
When injected, polynucleotides help stimulate fibroblast activity — the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin — while also supporting tissue repair and deep hydration. This makes them an advanced treatment option for improving skin texture, firmness, elasticity, and overall quality.
What Skin Concerns Can Polynucleotide Treatments Address?
Polynucleotide injections are highly versatile and suitable for most skin types. They can help improve:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Dull or dehydrated skin
- Acne scars and other types of scarring
- Rosacea-prone or inflamed skin
- Skin laxity and reduced elasticity
- Dark circles and under-eye hollows
This treatment is an excellent option for clients seeking skin repair and rejuvenation rather than structural enhancement.
How Many Polynucleotide Treatments Are Needed?
Some improvement in hydration and texture is often noticeable around 4 weeks after the first session. The most visible results typically appear 6–8 weeks after the second treatment.
For best results, a course of 3–4 sessions are usually recommended. Your aesthetic practitioner will tailor the treatment plan based on your skin condition and goals.
How Is the Polynucleotide Treatment Performed?
Polynucleotide treatment is delivered through a series of precise micro-injections placed just beneath the skin. This technique allows even distribution of the product for optimal regenerative effect.
Is the Polynucleotide Treatment Painful?
Most clients describe the treatment as very tolerable. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to maximise comfort, and very fine needles are used. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or small injection marks immediately after treatment, but these effects usually settle quickly.
How Long Do Results from Polynucleotide Last?
Results typically last between 6 and 12 months, depending on age, lifestyle, and the area treated. Maintenance sessions are recommended to prolong and enhance results, as continued treatments support ongoing collagen stimulation and skin repair.
Pre-Treatment Advice for Polynucleotide Injections
To ensure the safest possible treatment and best results, please review the following guidance before your appointment:
- Plan your treatment around important social events. Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising can occur after injectable treatments.
- Bruising and temporary side effects are always possible — even if you have previously had injectables without any issues.
- Please inform your healthcare practitioner if you are planning to travel within 4 weeks of your treatment.
- You must not attend your appointment if you have an active cold sore. If you are prone to cold sores, let your practitioner know in advance.
- There should be no active acne or skin infection in the area being treated.
- Your treatment should be postponed if you have had a recent illness, infection, or antibiotic course.
- Treatment cannot be performed if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
- Polynucleotide therapy is typically performed as a course of 3–4 sessions. Completing the full course and having maintenance treatments is important for optimal results.
- Results are gradual and regenerative. Improvements develop over several weeks and are usually visible from around 4–6 weeks. Individual results vary.
- Tell your practitioner about all medications, vitamins, and supplements you take. Some can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising. This includes aspirin, warfarin, and certain supplements.
- Please attend your appointment without makeup on the treatment area. Avoid applying makeup for 24 hours after treatment to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.
Your aesthetic practitioner will review your medical history and suitability before proceeding.
Where Can Polynucleotides Be Used?
Polynucleotide injections can be used in several areas to improve skin quality and regeneration, including:
- Face
- Under-eye area
- Neck
- Décolleté (chest area)
- Hands
They are particularly effective in delicate areas where the skin is thin and shows early signs of ageing, such as under the eyes.
Polynucleotides vs Skin Booster Injections — What’s the Difference?
Both Polynucleotide treatments and traditional skin boosters are designed to improve skin hydration and quality, but they work in different ways.
Skin boosters primarily focus on deeply hydrating the skin and providing a temporary plumping effect. They improve texture and glow but do not actively repair the skin at a cellular level.
Polynucleotide treatments, on the other hand, go further. They support true skin regeneration by stimulating fibroblasts and encouraging the production of collagen and elastin. This helps strengthen and repair the skin structure, delivering longer-lasting improvements in tone, elasticity, and overall skin health.
Polynucleotides are ideal for clients looking for natural rejuvenation without adding volume or changing facial shape.
Polynucleotides vs Profhilo — Which Is Better?
Both treatments are excellent for skin rejuvenation, but they work in different ways.
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid treatment that spreads within the skin to deeply hydrate and improve firmness and elasticity.
Polynucleotides focus on skin repair and regeneration by stimulating collagen and elastin production and supporting cell renewal.
Rather than choosing one over the other, many clients benefit from a combined treatment approach, depending on their skin condition and goals.
Can Polynucleotides Be Combined with Other Treatments?
Yes. Polynucleotide treatments work very well alongside other aesthetic procedures and are often used as part of a comprehensive skin rejuvenation plan.
They can be combined with:
- Skin boosters
- Anti-wrinkle injections
- Profhilo
- Microneedling
- Laser treatments
Your aesthetic practitioner will recommend the safest and most effective treatment plan to achieve the best overall results.
